Netball NSW has secured outstanding results at the National Championships, with the 19U team claiming the gold medal and the 17U team finishing with silver following a week of high-quality performances.
The 19U team delivered a dominant performance in the Grand Final, defeating South Australia 39–29 to cap off an exceptional tournament.
Paige O'Neil was named MVP of the gold medal match, recognising her standout performance on the biggest stage.
Across the tournament, the 19U team set the benchmark with an undefeated campaign, built on consistent performances and strong contributions across the court.
They carried that momentum into finals, combining composure, depth and adaptability to control the decider and secure the national title.
The 17U team also impressed, earning a place in the Grand Final after a strong turnaround across the week.
Bouncing back from two early losses, the side built confidence and cohesion to win every remaining round match before grinding out a hard-fought semi-final victory over Victoria.
In the Grand Final, NSW was narrowly defeated by South Australia 42–41 in a tightly contested match, with the margin never extending beyond three goals.
Both teams demonstrated resilience and composure throughout the finals series, with their semi-final wins highlighting their ability to perform under pressure.
In each Semi-Final match, NSW only took the lead in the closing minutes, reflecting the teams’ ability to stay calm and execute when it mattered most.
Across the tournament, the 19U team set the benchmark with an undefeated run, underpinned by consistent performances and contributions across the court.
NSW Umpires Clarissa Burgess, Adele Kozak, Ryan Ahearne & Rachel Pope also delivered strong performances at the National Championships, each earning medal match appointments and showcasing the depth of NSW's umpiring pathway.
These results highlight the strength of the NSW pathway, with both teams showcasing the depth of talent and future of the sport across the state.
