The countdown is officially on, with just 365 days until the start of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow—and for Netball NSW, the anticipation is building.
As preparations ramp up across Australia’s national sporting landscape, netball once again stands as one of the marquee events of the Games. The Australian Diamonds have a rich Commonwealth Games history, winning medals at every Games since netball’s inclusion in 1996—and NSW athletes have been part of every one of those podium performances.
With selection trials and final squads still to come, Netball NSW is proud of its legacy and excited by the new generation of athletes who may don the green and gold in Glasgow.
“Australia has a proud and decorated history in netball at the Commonwealth Games, with NSW athletes playing a key role in every medal-winning team since the sport’s debut in 1996,” said Netball NSW CEO, Tracey Scott.
“With just one year to go until the Games in Glasgow, I’m excited to see what our athletes will achieve on the world stage. As Sydney looks ahead to hosting the Netball World Cup in 2027, the momentum and inspiration this next generation brings is something truly special.”
Glasgow 2026 will bring together nearly 3,000 athletes from 74 nations, with netball again expected to be a crowd favourite. The 11-day competition will be staged across four precincts and six venues, with Australia’s 300-strong team supported by world-class coaching, recovery, and operations staff.
The excitement is already being felt at every level of the game—from aspiring juniors across NSW to Diamonds hopefuls training for a chance to represent Australia on one of the world’s biggest sporting stages.
As the countdown clock ticks over to one year to go, one thing is clear: the drive, talent, and commitment of Netball NSW athletes continues to shape the future of the sport—both at home and on the world stage.
