As a result of the recent flood activity, many of our Netball Associations and their members, particularly in the Far North Coast region have been seriously affected.
Lismore District Netball Association, Brunswick Byron Netball Association, Lower Clarence Netball Association and Casino Netball Association saw destruction of buildings, canteen equipment, PA systems, computers, post pads, and many other costly items. Many of our netball families in these and surrounding areas, including Ballina, and our neighbours further north in the Murwillumbah and Tweed areas have also lost so much.
Whilst these amazing communities have already banded together in the clean-up efforts, the mental and financial impact is hard to fathom.
Confident Girls Foundation Community Response Grants
The Confident Girls Foundation in conjunction with Netball NSW will be supporting our netball communities directly impacted by floods to ensure they can get back to playing the sport we all love. Through the Community Response Grants Funds will be made available to associations and clubs to use on purchasing replacement equipment, support individual members or facility repairs.
How You Can Help
With the help of the Confident Girls Foundation, Netball NSW has set up a dedicated NSW fundraising page. This will allow associations, Clubs, Teams and individuals from the wider netball community to assist in the fundraising effort. All funds raised will go to our affected NSW Netball Communities and their members.
Set up and Register your Netball Association or Netball Club, put on a fundraising event or simply ask your members to help raise as much funds as possible through your unique team link to help our netball family get back on the court!
Director of the Confident Girls Foundation Vicki Gillespie said “We’re here to empower marginalized girls through netball. It is important that the recent events in these communities don’t prevent the girls from playing and progressing their health and wellbeing in the sport”.
Executive General Manger of Communities and Pathways Tim Fava said “Our thoughts are with everyone that has been impacted by the devasting floods across Northern NSW, hopefully this initiative with The Confident Girls Foundation goes some way to providing assistance to our affected associations and clubs, and a way our extended NSW Netball family can show their support.”
