At Netball NSW, we are proud to shine a light on the incredible work being done by our Associations and few initiatives capture the spirit of community quite like Randwick Netball Association’s annual Hair and Crazy Sock Day in support of Kids Cancer.
This vibrant and joyful event has become one of the most treasured days on Randwick’s calendar. It’s more than just fun on the courts - it’s a powerful display of compassion and unity, where players come together not only in bright colours and wild hairstyles, but with a shared purpose to give back.
Each year, players hit the court in the craziest socks and boldest hairdos they can dream up, proudly donating to support children and families affected by cancer. What may seem like a small gesture becomes something so much bigger - a visible show of solidarity and care.
For the past six consecutive years, Randwick has held the distinction of being the highest fundraising netball club in NSW. While the recognition is well deserved, it’s the impact that truly matters - the knowledge that every dollar raised is helping to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
A much-loved highlight of the day is the visit from Oscar the Bear, who brings excitement and smiles to every corner of the courts. The opportunity to purchase Oscar Bears also adds to the support, with proceeds going directly towards Kids Cancer initiatives. Randwick’s players wear their Kids Cancer patches with pride, each one representing a year of meaningful contribution and community spirit.
This year, Randwick is once again striving to retain their place as the top fundraising Association in the state, and continuing to lead by example. Their legacy is one built on kindness, action, and the belief that sport can be a vehicle for lasting change.
