The HART Senior State Titles was voted the Event of the Year at the 2022 NSW Sports Awards on Monday night, a fitting testament to the strength of community netball this year.
The Awards have been running since 1994, and serve to celebrate the achievements of athletes, coaches, officials, administrators and organisations on an annual basis.
Beating competition from the likes of Karting, Swimming and Horse Riding, the State Titles saw thousands of netball players, coaches, officials, and fans descend on the Campbelltown District and Camden & District Netball Associations, with four sets of State Champions crowned across Opens, 17U, 15U and Men’s Divisions.
In 2022 the competition introduced Men’s Divisions for the first time, in the Opens category, a move that would have happened earlier if not for delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Campbelltown welcomed teams from the Opens Division 1 and Divisions 1 & 2 of the 17U and 15U and Male team categories.
Camden & District, meanwhile, hosted the Opens Division 2, and Divisions 3 & 4 of the 17U & 15U age groups.
Netball NSW Competitions Manager Claire Dale thanked the numerous stakeholders who contributed to making the competition such a success in 2022.
“It was a very special moment for Netball NSW to be able to accept the Event of the Year Award earlier this week,” she said.
“There were many staff at Netball NSW who dedicated a huge amount of time to the Senior State Titles this year, but their efforts were also matched by the brilliant netball workforce at both Campbelltown and Camden.
“We would also like to thank the thousands of people who travelled from all over NSW to take part, especially those who came from regional areas. We realise it is a huge undertaking, but Awards such as this illustrate that those efforts continue to advance netball’s place on the sporting map.
“We are really looking forward to next year’s Senior State Titles in Maitland and Newcastle, the work for which is already underway.”
Netball NSW would like to thank HART Sport, Naming Rights Partner of the Senior State Titles, for their support of the event in 2023.
