Next week, the state’s most talented young netballers will take to the courts at Netball Central, Sydney Olympic Park for the 2025 Netball NSW Schools Cup State Finals, bringing together top-performing teams from across New South Wales.
The Schools Cup is open to all students — primary and secondary — from public, Catholic, and independent schools. Students progress from local round-robin tournaments through Regional Finals, with the highest-ranked teams advancing to the State Finals.
This year, more than 22,000 students participated statewide, with 1,252 primary school teams (12,520 students) and 984 secondary school teams (9,840 students) competing throughout the year. From that field, 8 primary school teams and 32 secondary school teams (across Years 7/8 Girls, 7/8 Boys, 9/10 Girls, 9/10 Boys divisions) will contest the State Finals.
Adding excitement, NSW Swifts and GIANTS Netball stars will be on hand to inspire students. On Thursday 27 November, Swifts Paige Hadley, Teigan O'Shannassy, and GIANTS’ Casey Adamson will attend the primary finals, while Paige Hadley and Tayla Fraser will support the secondary finals on Friday 28 November.
Several schools will be making notable appearances:
- Carinya Christian School will make its third trip to the State Finals, chasing its first title.
- South West Rocks Public School, coached by Netball NSW’s own Gill Cotter, is aiming to convert regional success into a State crown.
- St Joseph’s Lockhart will make its first-ever State Finals appearance, an exciting milestone for the small rural school.
- Hunter Sports High, defending champions, return with Teams in both girls divisions
“Schools Cup is one of the highlights of the year for Netball NSW,” Trish Crews, Executive General Manager at Netball NSW said.
“It’s an incredible celebration of participation, teamwork, and school spirit. Every student gets the chance to represent their school, have fun, and be inspired by their peers and elite players.
“Events like this show that netball is for everyone — any student can pick up a ball, play with friends, and experience the joy of the game.”
Matches kick off from 9:00am each day, with presentations scheduled for 2:45pm, and promise a full day of high-energy, exciting netball for students, teachers, families, and supporters.
For schools interested in future participation, any NSW school can register for the 2026 Netball NSW Schools Cup. More information is available at netballnsw.com.
