Netball NSW would like to congratulate Terese Kennedy on her induction into the Netball Australia Hall of Fame.
Australian Diamond No.57 Kennedy was inducted at last night's Netball Australia Awards which took place in Melbourne.
Also an inductee of the Netball NSW Hall of Fame (2006), Kennedy received the honour alongside Natalie von Bertouch (Diamond #137), former Netball Australia CEO Pam Smith and Sue Taylor AM
Kennedy (nee Delaney) represented Australia internationally in both netball and Basketball. With 15 international test caps to her credit she was in integral part of the Australian line-up for almost a decade.
A Vice-Captain of the Australian team which won the third World Netball Tournament in Jamaica in 1971, she played in the vital goal keeper and goal defence positions and was also in the Aussie team which competed successfully in the Fifth World Series in Trinidad in 1979.
Kennedy was Captain/Coach of NSW for the 1971 Australian Championships. In 1976 and again in 1979 she captained NSW to joint premierships at the Australian Championships.
Known to be a fierce competitor, Kennedy is well respected in both netball and basketball circles and is a true sportswoman and pioneer for women’s sport.
On 26th October 1979 Terese became the first netballer to be inducted into the NSW Hall of Champions.
