Netball NSW pathways athletes recently took part in a practical off-court development session delivered by The Female Athlete Project (TFAP), focused on building strong personal brands and creating opportunities beyond sport.
Led by TFAP Founder Chloe Dalton, the summit focused on equipping athletes with the tools and knowledge to strategically use content and storytelling to grow their profile, show up with impact, and create opportunities beyond the game. The session explored how athletes can leverage platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn in ways that feel authentic, effective and aligned with their individual goals.
The summit also featured a behind-the-scenes look at TFAP’s own content approach, delivered by TFAP Social Media Manager Dominique du Toit. Athletes gained practical insights into defining brand voice, establishing content pillars and building a sustainable content plan that fits around training and competition demands.
Netball NSW General Manager of Performance and Pathways, Mardi Aplin, said the session was an important step in supporting athletes’ long-term development.
“Our athletes are more than just performers on the court, and sessions like this help them understand the value of their voice, their story and their personal brand,” Aplin said. “The TFAP Summit provided practical, relevant education that empowers athletes to think beyond competition and feel confident navigating opportunities off the court, both now and into the future.”
NRLW star Kennedy Cherrington also joined the session, sharing honest insights into how content and storytelling have helped her open doors beyond elite competition, including increased visibility, stronger connections and career opportunities away from the field. For many athletes in attendance, the session offered clarity and confidence around an area that can often feel overwhelming.
“I’ve always known social media was important, but this session really showed me how to use it with purpose,” said one participating athlete. “Learning about content pillars, storytelling and how to show up authentically made it feel achievable, not intimidating. I’m walking away with a clear plan and a lot more confidence.”
The TFAP Summit reflects a shared commitment between TFAP and Netball NSW to support athlete growth beyond performance, creating space for meaningful conversations around identity, opportunity and life after sport.
Through practical education and real-world examples, the session reinforced the importance of helping athletes build sustainable personal brands that support both their sporting careers and future pathways.
