Netball NSW is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Fran Reynolds OAM, a cherished member of the netball community whose lifetime of service left an enduring mark on our sport.
For more than four decades, Fran dedicated herself to growing and strengthening netball at both club and association level through her unwavering commitment to the Randwick Netball Association and Matraville Tigers Netball Club.
A recipient of the Netball NSW Anne Clark BEM Service Award in 2020, Fran embodied the spirit of the honour, recognising volunteers whose selfless contribution has helped make netball one of Australia's most successful sports.
Throughout her remarkable volunteer career, Fran served on the Executive Committees of both Matraville Tigers Netball Club and Randwick Netball Association, holding numerous leadership positions including President, Vice President, Junior Convener, Assistant Treasurer and Junior Vice President. She also contributed extensively through the Association's Policy, Grading and Fixtures Committees and represented Randwick on the Randwick Sports Council.
For 39 years, Fran was a Representative Team Manager, renowned for her care and generosity towards players and families. Whether organising teams, mentoring volunteers or simply ensuring every player made it to training and competition, Fran's impact extended well beyond the court.
Her outstanding service to both netball and the broader community was recognised through numerous honours, including the Australian Sports Medal, the Netball NSW Anne Clark BEM Service Award and Order of Australia (OAM).
Fran will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, unwavering commitment and the genuine care she showed to everyone she encountered. Her legacy lives on through the generations of players, coaches, umpires, volunteers and administrators she inspired and supported throughout her lifetime.
On behalf of the entire netball community, Netball NSW extends its sincere condolences to Fran's family, friends, and the members of Randwick Netball Association and Matraville Tigers Netball Club during this difficult time.
