In preparation for this year’s HART Junior State Titles, Moree & District Netball Association, like many associations around NSW, have invested heavily in coach education and accreditation.
Never one to let an opportunity slip through the fingers of a regional association, Regional Development Manager Ashlee van Katwyk set to work on making a weekend of development for coaches of the Northern Inland region.
In what will be Moree & District’s first Junior State Titles appearance in nearly a decade, the weekend consisted of two days full of development, comprising of a Development coaching course and clinics for local 12s and 13s players.
Netball NSW coach workforce member and Elite Coach, Colleen Mitchell flew to Moree to deliver the weekend of education and inspiration. Eleven coaches from Moree, Inverell, Gunnedah, Narrabri and Armidale gained their Development Coach Accreditation, gaining valuable new skills, abilities and motivation from Colleen as she shared her extensive knowledge and experience.
Following the course on Saturday afternoon and again on Sunday, Colleen worked with local 12s and 13s representative players on their individual skills where players grasped every opportunity. Local Moree coaches assisted with the clinics learning valuable tools for the representative season ahead as they target and work towards their first State Titles appearance.
The weekend was a great success where every participant left with new skills and inspiration.
Moree & District’s Representative Coordinator, Rebecca Reardon said, “This has been just fabulous; a great opportunity for the girls as they don’t get a chance to experience this level of coaching given our location. One of our players just said to me she felt like she’s had two years of learning jammed in to one day.”
