The Netball World Cup begins tomorrow night, where, over the next 10 days, Cape Town, South Africa will play host to our sport’s best talent from Nations all across the globe.
All World Cup 2023 matches will be broadcast FREE + LIVE on Kayo Freebies.
While there's no question on our support for the Aussie Diamonds, the netball talent stemming from NSW goes well beyond the Australian camp with nine athletes, two coaching staff and a further three officials representing four countries (Australia, Tonga, England and Jamaica).
Here’s who we’ve got our eyes on in the 2023 Netball World Cup.
Australia:
Our Aussie Diamonds have a score to settle with their campaign for this World Cup campaign labelled as “Unfinished Business” after coming home with silver four years ago when they went down to New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup final in Liverpool.
The team are coming into the tournament as favourites, following their Gold Medal victory at last year's Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
NSW Swifts Co-Captain Paige Hadley and Defender Sarah Klau have been steady selections for the Diamonds in recent years, and will once again line up in the green and gold. GIANTS Netball Vice Captain, Jamie-Lee Price has also been selected in the final World Cup Squad, following a stand out year in the Suncorp Super Netball League, where she was recently named HCF Most Valuable Player for the GIANTS.
Former NSW Junior Representatives Ash Brazill and Kiera Austin were among the 12 athletes selected in the 2023 World Cup team.

Tonga:
Tonga may be competing in its first ever Netball World Cup, but don’t let that deter you from the talent they are nurturing in this team!
No less than four NSW athletes have been named in the Tongan team, including Netball NSW Premier League’s GWS Fury players Peti Talanoa and Kelea Iongi (also a Swifts Training Partner and debutant in 2023), and Penrith Panther and GIANTS Netball Academy athlete Luana Aukafolau.
Adding to this list of young talent, former Australian Diamond and NSW Swifts Captain Mo'onia Gerrard will return to the international stage (and alongside her niece, Kelea Iongi), ten years since she last played in the green and gold.
Tonga also has a familiar face as a specialist coach in Briony Akle, a dual Premiership winning Coach with the NSW Swifts. This team may well be the surprise of the tournament!

England:
The Roses missed the medals at last year’s Commonwealth Games, which will only make them hungrier to get on the World Cup dais in 2023.
Star NSW Swifts GA Helen Housby is always one to watch, and the bigger the stage, the more she rises to the occasion. Swifts fans love her in their corner, but know all too well how she damaging she can be when lines up for England!
After announcing her retirement from international netball earlier this year, fans will also be glad that GIANTS Captain Jo Harten won’t be missing any World Cup action- joining England in 2023 in a Specialist Coach capacity.

Jamaica:
After a stellar season with the NSW Swifts and return to the court following the birth of daughter Gianna, Romelda Aiken-George is back on the list for the Sunshine Girls and Jamaica.
The Sunshine Girls are looking a serious threat, as last year's Commonwealth Games silver medalists, with several of their players having stand out seasons in the Suncorp Super Netball League.
