The 2025 North West Regional League Tournament, held in Tamworth on 29–30 March, brought together the region’s top-performing teams for a fierce showcase of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship. With a packed schedule of high-intensity matches, the tournament highlighted the strength and depth of netball talent across the North West. From the opening rounds, it was clear that each team had come well-prepared, executing tactical game plans with sharp precision and strong cohesion. The level of play across all divisions was outstanding, with many matches decided by narrow margins, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats. Throughout the weekend, teams demonstrated incredible resilience, adjusting quickly to opposition strategies and delivering sharp attacking drives, strong defensive pressure, and slick midcourt ball movement. Players at every level brought tremendous energy and passion to each quarter. Finals Series Highlights The finals series delivered some of the tournament’s best netball. Division 1: In a gripping semi-final, 4th-placed Tamworth eliminated top-of-the-table Scone to earn their place in the Grand Final. Inverell secured the second Grand Final spot after a nail-biting finish against Glen Innes. In the Grand Final, Tamworth edged out Inverell with a structured and disciplined performance. Their consistent ball movement and defensive pressure across the tournament proved decisive, crowning them Division 1 champions. Division 2: Tamworth 2 narrowly defeated Glen Innes 2, while Scone 2 overcame Inverell 2 to qualify for their first-ever Division 2 Grand Final. In a high-intensity final, Tamworth 2 held strong under pressure to claim the Division 2 title, showcasing composure, teamwork, and determination. Individual Honours The tournament also recognized outstanding individual performances, awarding the prestigious Dorothy ‘Dot’ Lockwood Memorial Trophy for the North West Regional League Most Valuable Player: Division 1 MVP: Emily Deasey (Tamworth) Division 2 MVP: Mia Gentle (Tamworth) A Celebration of Community and Sport Beyond the results, the 2025 North West Regional League was a celebration of community, connection, and a shared commitment to netball. A special thanks goes to the tournament organisers, umpires, scorers, volunteers, and supporters who made the event a seamless success. Gratitude is extended to the Umpire Allocations Team, led by Caitlin Holman (Tamworth), with support from Lyn O’Brien (Tamworth) and Peter Lees (Tamworth), for their tireless work with umpires across the weekend. The competition provided a fantastic platform to showcase the talented athletes, umpires, and coaches from across the North West. As teams now shift their focus to the next phase of the season, the tournament will be remembered not just for its competitive spirit, but for the passion and pride that make netball in this region so special. Congratulations to all teams for their outstanding efforts and for representing their associations with pride. The 2025 North West Regional League was a true celebration of netball excellence.
