The 2022 North Coast HART Regional League Competition was recently held in Port Macquarie over two weekends, with the top 10 teams in the Region making up two divisions.
Day one saw some strong competition with Macleay 1 battling Coffs Harbour, Bellingen 1 and Hastings Valley for top place on the ladder in Division 1. The scoreboard showed the high level of skill amongst these teams, with many games coming down to two or three goals at the final buzzer.
In the end Macleay 1 was sitting on top of the ladder heading into the Finals on Day 2.
Division 2 included Bellingen 2, Great Lakes, Manning Valley, Nambucca Valley, Macleay 2 and Woolgoolga. Again the level of skill shown by the athletes on court was impressive!
There were many close games in this division as well, one or two goals difference, but in the end Nambucca Valley dominated and finished the day sitting on top of the ladder.
Our team of selectors, Amy Quirk, Helen Black and Kirsten Clarke had a tough job on their hands selecting 12 athletes to represent the North Coast in the Regional State Cup Competition in October. The team has been announced and will be lead by Head Coach Helen Black and Assistant Coach Kirsten Clarke.
Day 2 of the competition started off with a bang, with Bellingen 1 getting up over Hastings Valley team by 46 to 44 in the first Semi Final.
Ladder leaders Macleay 1 fought a tough battle with the young Coffs Harbour team in the other Semi Final going down by just 1 goal in the final seconds, 59 to 60.
The Division 1 Grand Final between Coffs Harbour and Bellingen 1 looked to be another close game with both teams on 23 goals at half time. In the end Coffs Harbour ran away with the game, the end result being 59 goals to 35.
Division 2 started with Bellingen 2 defeating Woolgoolga 47 to 43 in the Semi Final and Nambucca Valley defeating Manning Valley 54 to 35.
In the end the Nambucca Valley team was just too strong on the day and won the Grand Final against Bellingen 2 with the final score of 62 to 39.
A big thank you to our umpires lead by Caitlin Holman and her Allocation team, without Team White there is no game! Congratulations to umpire Louise Ebnar who was chosen by Caitlin and her team to represent North Coast at the Regional State Cup. Congratulations also goes to Lauchlan Micalos who was awarded his National B on Day 1 of the Competition.
