It was a massive night of netball last night at Netball Central as the final round of the 17U and 15U Divisions kicked off.
It came down to the wire last night for all divisions as the top places were yet to be determined.
The 15U Division saw a close encounter for the top of the ladder from the get go. Ku-ring-gai and Randwick had a battle on their hands last night as they competed for one of the top spots. Ku-ring-gai fought like never before and managed to outshine Randwick, however St George have been an unstoppable force all season having remained composed and undefeated and took out the championship on a perfect score.
It was always going to be a battle for 17U Division 2 as Sutherland, Liverpool and Northern Suburbs all came into the final round with each having only one loss all season and sharing equal points.
Liverpool came into the final round wanting to prove their worth in the competition and they well and truly performed! Getting off to the perfect start against Hawkesbury, Liverpool were able to consolidate the win and claim second place in the Division.
It was a close battle between Sutherland and Northern Suburbs last night with Norths coming out of the gates strong, however Sutherland were able to turn things around and stepped it up in the final quarter to be crowned 17U Division 2 Champions.
It was anyone’s game for the taking in 17U Division 1 as Northern Suburbs, Camden and Hills all came in to the final round only having dropped one match all season and Manly Warringah were hot on their heels in fourth position. Hills had one of their greatest matches all season and left it all out on the court against Penrith as they stunned all with a final score of 70 – 28. In the end it was Northern Suburbs' consistent effort throughout the season with having the highest winning percentage that got them over the line with one of the closest finishes we have ever seen in Summer Series history! Northern Suburbs were able to claim the championship over Hills District by just 0.37 percent.
