The 2022 DOOLEYS Metro League Grand Final winners have been crowned after an exciting week of epic battles out on court across three nights and six matches.
Monday night was LOUD and the supporters were PROUD.
In Division 4, this battle was not for the faint hearted. The crowd was loud and the stands were filled with Camden & District and Liverpool City supporters. Liverpool City got out to a strong start in the first quarter before Camden & District levelled the score at half-time. Liverpool City won the final quarter by one-goal but it was not enough to take away from the dominant performance Camden & District put out in quarter three, with Camden & District taking the win by five goals and becoming the 2022 DOOLEYS Metro League Division 4 champions.
In Division 3, Baulkham Hills Shire proved how they earnt first place and took their first win in the 2022 season against Hills District. Baulkham Hills Shire came out firing from the first whistle and did not take their foot off the peddle as they headed into the final quarter with a 12-goal lead. Hills District held them to level in the final quarter however it was not enough, crowning Division 3 Premiers Baulkham Hills Shire the 2022 DOOLEYS Metro League Division 3 Premiers with a 12-goal win.
Tuesday night was full of surprises.
In Division 6, Ku-ring-gai knocked Sutherland Shire off their top spot despite a fourth quarter surge from the premiers. An early lead from Ku-ring-gai which they built on each quarter was more than enough to secure the win by four goals crowning them the 2022 DOOLEYS Metro League Division 6 winners.
In Division 5, Campbelltown District came out fighting taking a three goal lead into quarter time, reminding Manly Warringah that they finished number one despite playing through the preliminary finals to make it to the Grand Final. The premiers' lead was short lived as Manly Warringah proved how they earnt top spot in the Division 5 Grand Final winning each of the next three quarters, ultimately taking the win by eight goals, becoming the 2022 DOOLEYS Metro League Division 5 champs.
Thursday night was a night of tough and tight match-ups.
In Division 2, Northern Suburbs held the lead in the first half of the match, taking the lead out to six goals. Randwick’s supporters were there to get them over the line, and that they did. Randwick won their fairytale ending after finishing in fourth place after the minor rounds, taking the win by six goals crowning them the 2022 DOOLEYS Metro League Division 2 winners.
In Division 1, this match was a nail-biter with each quarter being decided by only a matter of goals. The night was not to be for Northern Suburbs despite the impressive matches they put out on court. The Division 1 Premiers proved why they had been the team to beat all season as Hills District were crowned the 2022 DOOLEYS Metro League Division 1 Premiers.
