And that’s a wrap! With last night concluding the minor rounds for the 2020 DOOLEYS Metro League season, we are ready for some epic match ups in our semi-finals next week.
Teams dug even deeper this week, with players showing more fight out on court than ever before, all to secure their place in the semi-finals.
Manly Warringah came out on top in Division 1, after an intense top of the ladder clash against Eastwood Ryde last night. The teams are set to have a rematch in the semi-final next week, as they will battle it out on Show Court to determine the first grand finalist.
Penrith District finished first in Division 2 with a convincing season this year, remaining undefeated! Randwick will attempt to bring them down in the semi-final next week, and are running on a high after knocking out Inner West who were placed fourth on the ladder prior to last night’s match up.
It’s a tight contest in Division 3 with our top three placings finishing on equal points on the ladder. Liverpool City have the upper hand, however, as they secured first place with a slightly higher winning percentage and will take on Ku-ring-gai who were able to narrowly defeat them in this week’s match ups.
Division 4 is all set for an epic battle as currently second placed Eastwood Ryde will take on third placed Baulkham Hills in the semi-final. Will history repeat itself and will there be yet another 1 goal difference to secure the grand finalist? Shout out to Northern Suburbs who have remained undefeated this season and finished in first position on the ladder!
Camden & District completed the regular rounds in prime position on the ladder in Division 5 and will take on Sutherland Shire in a Round 9 rematch which saw Sutherland take them out 56-43. Inner Western Suburbs and Campbelltown District are in for a tight match as Round 5 saw neither team able to close it out, resulting in a draw.
Manly Warringah proved themselves in Division 6, only dropping one match the entire season. Hills District will have to bring all they’ve got to take them down in the semi-finals next week! Ku-ring-gai and Northern Suburbs will be yet another close match up in the second semi-final for Division 6. Ku-ring-gai will be out for revenge as Northern Suburbs were able to secure the win in Round 5.
