Over the weekend Lismore District Netball Association played host to the Far North Coast Bing Lee Regional League Round 2 and Finals.
The day showcased a lot of top class netball which followed on from the performances shown in Round 1 on 16 August at Casino Netball Association.
The Division 3 Grand Final saw Ballina 14s defeat Casino 14s in what was a super tight game, 15-14. Ballina 14s had come from third on the point score before heading into Finals and Casino 14s had played extra time in their Semi Final against Lismore 14s to gain their spot in the Grand Final.
Division 2 saw Lismore 15s take the top spot against Ballina 15s defeating them 24-19. With their star shooter, Chelsea Luke back from injury, the Lismore team didn’t drop a game in Round 2, after losing a couple of games in Round 1 at Casino three weeks prior.
In Division 1 Ballina 17s beat Lismore Opens by one goal in the Semi Final to secure their place in the Grand Final to leave Lismore Opens and Ballina Opens to fight it out in the Prelim in order to compete against the up and coming stars of the Far North Coast. In the end it was the host Association Lismore Opens who defeated Ballina 17s in a great display of top quality netball 28-25.
Overall, the Bing Lee Regional League competition showcased first-class athleticism and sportsmanship in some great games of netball true to the Far North Coast region. Congratulations to all players, coaches, officials and volunteers who were involved with the event.
