Earlier this year, Netball NSW was successful in two applications for funding from the NSW Office of Sport's Her Sport Her Way grant program, read more here. The Hands Up and Hands In for Welcoming and Inclusive Netball Communities project aims to create more welcoming and inclusive environments for multicultural women and girls and will kick off in November.
Netball NSW will be hosting two information sessions (via Zooom) for Associations and Clubs who may be interested in being part of the project:
- Wednesday 10 November 2021, 6.30pm – 7.00pm
- Thursday 18 November 2021, 6.30pm – 7.00pm
This whole of sport project will be led by Netball NSW with Associations and Clubs at the very heart of it.
Netball NSW will work directly with Associations and Clubs to assist them pilot programs which create welcoming environments for multicultural women and girls participating in the game. A focus on learning and understanding throughout the project aims to create sustainable changes and long-term participation.
Netball NSW have partnered with the Australian International Sports Organisation to provide multicultural awareness workshops to Associations and Clubs involved and will connect netball communities with multicultural organisations across the state. This will allow opportunities for the co-design of programs to meet communities' needs and reduce participation barriers.
Netball NSW is now seeking expressions of interest from Associations and Clubs that want to put their Hands Up and Hands In, committing to creating sustainable change that will lead to safer and more inclusive netball communities for multicultural women and girls.
