Northern Suburbs & Campbelltown District crowned Div 1 & 2 Dooleys Metro League Champions

DOOLEYS Metro League Divisions 1 and 2 brought the end of the season to an epic close last night in some absolute show stoppers!

Parramatta Auburn sparked into gear from the get go against Randwick as they contested for the third spot in Division 2. With Parramatta only dropping 2 games the entire season and those being against the Grand Finalists, it was a well-deserved win for the team.

Show Court was the host of an epic nail-biting Grand Final as Penrith and Campbelltown were all guns blazing to claim the 2020 championship. From start to finish the teams had everyone on the edge of their seats and it was anyone’s game to take. With Penrith having a convincing win against Campbelltown in the minor rounds, it was Campbelltown who needed to prove themselves against their fierce competitors. They did just that, as it was Campbelltown who nudged ahead in a one goal difference to be crowned the 2020 Division 2 Champions.

In Division 1, Hills District stepped it up against Eastwood Ryde as they managed to secure a 10-goal lead at the end of the second quarter in the third place play-off. Eastwood Ryde’s never give up attitude certainly made a stance in the game as they pulled off an epic comeback to trail by 2 goals, however Hills' dominance from the beginning of the match enabled them to claim the third place in the season.

What a Grand Final it was for our Division 1 last night! Teams were tenacious, determined and composed despite the huge amount of pressure that was sitting on their shoulders. With Northern Suburbs taking out the minor round battle against Manly Warringah, Norths had confidence on their side, however with Manly proving themselves to be the strongest team in the Division they were not going down without a fight. It was Manly who ruled the game with Northern Suburbs hot on their tails right up until the final quarter where Norths managed to flip the game and sprint home with the win to be named the 2020 Division 1 Champions!

With a tough year causing the season to be shortened, we would like to thank everyone for their diligence and patience in the 2020 season and for adhering to the many COVID-19 protocols and procedures we had in place.
