The NSW Government has announced that as of 5pm on Saturday 14 August the entire state of NSW is in lockdown and under stay-at-home orders.
It goes without saying that these restrictions mean that no community sport (whether training or a match) may proceed in NSW.
The only reasons you may leave your home include:
- Shopping for food or other essential goods and services;
- Medical care or compassionate needs (people can leave home to have a COVID-19 vaccination unless you have been identified as a close contact);
- Exercise outdoors in groups of 2 or fewer (unless members of the same household);
- Work, where you cannot work from home.
In addition:
- Schooling will be done from home;
- Masks must be worn indoors (not including the home) and in outdoor settings where you cannot socially distance from others (e.g. while queuing for takeaway).
Any Netball competitions which were due to take place in regional locations anytime after 5pm on Saturday 14 August must now be postponed or cancelled.
Netball NSW urges all members of the netball community to keep informed by regularly checking for updates on the Netball NSW Latest COVID-19 Information page, or the following websites:
The NSW Government and Office of Sport have requested that all sporting organisations use their networks to reinforce the important health and safety messages currently being distributed. The leadership shown by trusted community sporting organisations can not be underestimated. The most important message of all being that people should stay home unless absolutely necessary.
Netball NSW will continue to provide updates as circumstances change. As always, for any further information, please feel free to contact your Regional Manager, Association contact or any Netball NSW staff member for assistance.
