After two years of COVID cancellation, the Netball NSW Regional State Cup is bigger and better than ever with the competition set to take centre stage at Netball Central in Sydney Olympic Park.
Taking place on Saturday and Sunday, 1-2 October, the two-day event will see athletes aged between 16-22 years, and selected from the HART Regional League, come together to represent their respective regions.
The regions competing are as follows: Hunter, West Central West, Far North Coast, South Coast, Northern Inland, North Coast and Riverina.
With the best talent from each region selected, the athletes will also have the opportunity to be coached by the best up-and-coming coaches from those same areas.
For Netball NSW, this is a vital part of the high-performance pathway when it comes to regional athletes.
“We are so excited that this competition is finally going to get off the ground in 2022,” Mardi Aplin, Netball NSW General Manager of Performance & Pathways, said.
“This is a fabulous opportunity for our regional athletes to come together and play for regional pride.
“Within the Performance & Pathways team it is very important that we want to support regional athletes that are still attending school or studying in their home town.
“This gives them the opportunity to achieve and progress on the NNSW pathway without having to move to Sydney.
“Make no mistake there will be some top athletes on display and I encourage people come to Netball Central to watch the best regional talent this weekend.”
