Netball NSW is thrilled to announce the inclusion of two of our most talented and exciting coaches into the prestigious AIS Elevate Coach Program.
Ali Tucker-Munro (Head Coach GIANTS Netball Academy, Assistant Coach 19U NSW State Team, Head Coach UTS Randwick Sparks and Head Coach Indigenous All-Stars Team) and Jen Wright (Head Coach 19U NSW State Team and Assistant Coach QBE Swifts Academy) were two of only twenty-eight coaches selected nationwide from 20 sports.
The AIS Elevate Coach program is part of the AIS Performance Pathway strategy and its National Coach Development Strategy. The program is aimed at making Australia the world leader in modern high performance coaching development before the end of the decade, and to prioritise the progress of women in the same arena.
Tucker-Munro and Wright are now undertaking an intensive six-month course where they have the opportunity to work with leading tertiary institutions and coaches to build knowledge.
The course also affords time to reflect on, explore and share knowledge and provides the opportunity to develop their own Professional Development Plan to support and guide their career progression.
Wright commented: “The AIS Elevate coaching program has given me excellent tools to reflect deeply on my current coaching practice, as well as connecting me to a coaching community of practice, that not only inspires, but is thought provoking and insightful.”
Tucker-Munro noted: “I've loved how the course really fosters a participant-led learning environment, and have really enjoyed connecting with a range of female coaches from all walks of life and from a variety of sports - all keen to connect, listen, learn and share strategies with one another so we continue to grow as coaches.
"Having some of Australia's leading sporting academics facilitate discussions on topics that include coaching techniques and philosophy, healthy learning and training environments, and team and athlete psychology really stimulates your thinking as a coach.”
Both coaches were nominated for this program because of the positive influence they have already had on many nationally categorised athletes as well as their commitment to growth and readiness to learn.
Netball NSW congratulates them and looks forward to watching both in action in 2022 armed with new insights and knowledge. We thank both coaches for their ongoing commitment to support and nurture NSW athletes to be the best they can be.
